Coil Innerspring Mattresses vs. Memory Foam Mattresses

Which is best, Coil Innerspring Mattresses or the Memory Foam type of mattress?

It’s an individual decision.

Most experts will tell you that a Memory Foam type of mattress? type of mattress is GREAT if you sleep in one position all night long. If you move around at night you probably should stay away from the Memory Foam type of mattress? type of mattress.

But…manufacturers and sales people will tell you (and they may be correct) that a good Memory Foam type of mattress? will evenly distribute your weight across the entire contact area between your body and the mattress. This distribution of pressure reduces pressure points and practically eliminates the need to toss and turn. This feature will allow your body to sleep better and rest more soundly.

Many Coil Innerspring Mattresses also provide a layer of memory foam to provide extra pressure relief.  If this memory foam is of good quality it may give you the best of both worlds.

Most people are not aware that Coil Innerspring Mattresses may have a health benefit over Memory Foam type of mattress.

I don’t know about you but I tend to sweat when I sleep…it’s natural (at least for me)…

With Coil Innerspring Mattresses there is airflow between the springs which allows for clean evaporation of water from nightly perspiration. This cleanliness acts as a significant deterrent to germs and dust mites.

Regardless of which you chose here are some things you should look for in a mattress…

  1. Quality construction – you don’t want to spend half you life on a cheap mattress that gives you backaches and a poor nights rest
  2. You want a mattress that will last for years
  3. Your mattress should mold itself to the unique angles and curves of your body
  4. Your mattress should give your neck, back, shoulders and feet proper support

I personally prefer a Coil Innerspring Mattresses but I have many friends who swear by the Memory Foam type of mattress.

I know you wanted a more definitive answer…but with all said and done…it’s still an individual decision.
